news about us our music photos review tech. raider feedback our friends

Njazz is a jazz/fusion ensemble from Moscow, Russia playing original music since 2001

the band is now:

Konstantine Safyanov - alto sax
Alex Nadzharov - piano, keyboards, compositions
Alex Zavolokin - bass
Alexander Ivanov - drums

"Our message" or something like that
We are band playing all original music in jazz/fusion style. Why? It's a music we all like. We are very interested in
exploring new rhythms, the combination of latin and rock on the basement of traditional mainstream jazz musicianship
and elements of musical language, also involving any other new music styles we like. Fusion is for us not a kind of
mixture but a new formed musical language that has much unexplored areas.

A short bio of our band
The first performance of this band happened in spring of 2001, the "landscape" composition was performed by
Dmitrij Grishin on flute, Alex Nadzharov on piano, Alex Zavolokin on bass and Peter Ivshin on drums. Next
one was on December,1, 2001 , the band won prize at Moscow First
Festival of Jazz and Pop music "Music of the new generation". Then in 2002 band has participated in Moscow
student jazz festival "Festos" and won a prize for performing a composition "Life line" by Chick Corea. We
should mention that his music influenced us much then and now. That year we performed as a quintett with
Yurij Topchij on guitar joining us. Later we took part in "Festos"-2003 through 2006 with compositions
"eclipse","third wish" in 2003, "expectation","thirty three" in 2004, "my cappuccino","flashback" in 2005,
"modal eleven" in 2006. Several compositions - "33" and "my cappuccino" were awarded by a special diploma
by Moscow Musical Society.
There played Alex Gordeev on alto sax(2001 through 2003), Timofej Hazanov on alto sax (2004), Alex Stefanovskiy (2001 through 2005)

Music
Till 2004 we played quite rarely, in 2003 we decided to change things and made our first studio recordings, among them
were "landscape" and "third wish". Then in 2004 we recorded some more and compiled all that into one album called
"thirty three".
For now we prefer the versions of our songs recorded live at concert in Elena Kamburova's Theatre, especially "third wish", that is almost
a very different version.
Our most recent live recording for now is "modal eleven" recorded in August, 2006
